Phantom Singer is JTBC's audition program, aiming to choose the best male crossover quartet. As it is a hugely popular program, talented vocalists in various vocal categories rush to it, including classical vocals, musical singers, and K-pop vocalists.
Each round is run as a tournament and a certain number of vocalists are dropped by the judges' (called Producers in the program) decision. The winners of each round choose new members to create a duo, a trio, and a quartet. The final twelve vocalists create three teams and compete for the crown. Phantom Singer started in 2016, and there have been four seasons as of 2023.
Phantom Singer (November 2016 – January 2017)
Phantom Singer 2 (August 2017 – November 2017)
Phantom Singer 3 (April 2020 – July 2020)
Phantom Singer 4 (March 2023 – June 2023)

In the Duo competition, with Kim Ji Hoon's persistent persuasion, Jin Won teamed up with him. Kim Ji Hoon and Jin Won’s duet "Cose" received an unexpectedly enthusiastic response from the judges. It was from here that the story of Libelante began. Although Kim Ji Hoon and Jin Won lost this Duo competition, they scored the second highest in this round. Hence, the judges decided to give them the benefit of team retention for the Trio round, which was the first time ever in the entire history of Phantom Singer. Their "Cose" video is now one of the most viewed in Phantom Singer 4 and has 2.72 million views (as of November 2024).

In the Trio competition, they sang "Il coraggio delle idee," earned perfect scores from two judges, and won first place. The judges' comments were also unprecedentedly favorable.
Producer Park Kang Hyun (a musical star) commented, "How happy I would be if I went down to the stage and sang together with them." Pianist Kim Jeong Won said, "I want to perform with them on stage." Producer Yoon Jong Shin also said, "I want to write a song for them." "Il coraggio delle idee" video is also one of the most viewed clips from Phantom Singer 4.

As winners of the Trio round, Kim Ji Hoon, Jin Won, and Jung Seung Won chose Roh Hyun Woo as the fourth member of the quartet. In the Quartet round, they sang "Altrove e qui," which later became a fan-favorite. The song was their first song as a quartet, and fans loved it for its grandeur style and intense masculine tone.

Since the Quartet round, the four members of Libelante have developed such a strong bond of friendship and absolute trust in each other that they were certain that they were "meant to be." All four members were classical music majors, so they used their fundamentals to create beautiful harmonies and freely moved across voice parts. They lost the first round of the final competition but they won a clear come-from-behind victory in the last round, which completed the story of Libelante. At last, on June 2, 2023, Libelante was crowned as the winner of Phantom Singer 4.
